Product Overview

The X-Ray Motor Safety Circuit Board is used in the XMS circuit card assembly which is used as an embedded controller in the iDXA bone densitometer. It is responsible for X-ray, Motion, and Safety functions. It is intended to run as a slave to the DCB circuit card assembly and as a master to the X-ray generator. The XMS printed wiring board (PWB) is an eight layer rectangular board. The board thickness is standard (0.062”). The PWB is mounted via four mounting holes located near each corner and 2 additional interior mounting holes. The components are primarily surface mount, with board connectors, headers being the only exceptions. Through-hole connectors were used for better stability and ruggedness for secure cable and board connections. Due to the density of the board, resistors and capacitors are primarily size 0603. Sensitive signals were routed manually and isolated from more powerful signals to reduce signal interference and cross talk on the same routing layer. The main power and ground planes were stacked adjacently in the central inner layers to increase inter-planar capacitance, thus reducing ground bounce and power supply noise.
